Oversharing FAQs for long-distance running

From, “how do you find new routes?” to “how do you avoid running chafe? Over the last couple of years I’ve had a quite a few questions about how I personally train for long distance races including my most recent challenge, my first ultra-marathon.

Harassment and Running- Update

A year ago I voiced my opinion on the fact that harassment when out running is unacceptable. It frustrated me how in general, the advice given was around runners changing their behaviour. The way these messages were communicated could, in my opinion, instil fear and even stop people from discovering the physical and mental health benefits of running.

Pre-race tips, it’s time, BEAST TIME

So it’s the week of the Prime Four Beast race. If this is the first time you’ve done something like this you’re probably going through a mix of emotions… Why did I let my friends convince me to sign up? Have I done enough training? Will said friends above pull my ass out the mud if I get stuck? OMG I’M…

Juggling real life, running and everything inbetween

It’s no secret that my life is always super busy (as it is for a lot of people)! For me, a standard day can start at 6am, consist of freelance work, normal work, training and at the moment Project Awesome twice a week. It was going to be badassly awesome and put into practice all the things I have learnt about running over the past couple of years. But yeah, sometimes things don’t go to plan. Fast forward 8 months. I had just…

Pilates Festival Scotland

Bathed in the morning sun (and little bit scared of my navigational skills), I set off yesterday morning to Dunblane for the Pilates Festival Scotland. I had chatted away to the guys at a free Lululemon event and they kindly invited me along to the day. FYI Jordan- I’m still waiting to see you at Project Awesome one morning! First…

Beyonce strutting at the Village Gym Edinburgh

Last month the Village gym in Edinburgh were super kind and gave me a free 1 month pass to try out all their facilities. Bear in mind I normally HATE gyms. I know it works for some people, however personally I’ve never understood why you would run on a machine indoors, rather than frolic outside. However this time, it was…

How to become a morning workout ninja

I’m one of those really annoying “morning people”. I don’t snooze my alarm and can quite often be found singing the Lion King before the sunrises (much to Jamie’s dismay). Because of this, I love an early morning workout. It makes me feel like I have my own secret part of the day, like a little pause before the busyness…
